Gonna guess the housekeeper is the culprit just because she stopped Ran and Sonoko from visiting him

Edit: Welp, it was her, but her stopping Ran and Sonoko wasn't mentioned at all

it was a timing issue on when R n S were heading to the greenhouse. if they had left then those two would have discovered the body BEFORE the son the housekeeper was framing showed up via the text the housekeeper sent.

i bet they cut that detail out of the script due to the episode's run-time.

they also didn't mention how ONLY the housekeeper could have set this whole thing up.his sons were no longer living at home, so they were NOT intimately familiar with their father's habits anymore. they didn't even know when he was heading to the greenhouse for his normal 'maintenance and upkeep' on the cacti every night from 'certain time' to 'certain time'. the housekeeper wrote to the son about to be framed a specific time in the text. so he went out, TO PRACTICE GOLF AT NIGHT? who does that? heh! as an excuse to meet up with his dad in the greenhouse. if the son knew his dad's schedule he would have just showed up at the greenhouse earlier and found the body too early. because the 'meetup time' was WELL AFTER the dad started his maintenance. :D the housekeeper needed that time-gap to heat up the ceramic pots and set the alarm off.

Ran asked Yashiro for a gravy recipe, she asked a lady for a palm reading or something once who got killed that night; it's basically a running gag by now.

LesK • 1 year ago

Ran asked that blackmailer fake astrologer in episode 512 'The Broken Horoscope' for a session, not a palm reading. the astrologer died there. you're mixing up that one up with the episodes 608, 609 'White Day of Betrayal' CULPRIT. the CULPRIT held Ran's hand at THEIR request NOT Ran's request. that person wanted to give Ran a palm reading as part of their ALIBI TRICK to poison their spouse. the spouse died, not the CULPRIT holding Ran's hand.

so nope, you're entirely wrong because that's no running gag. it is just your faulty memories murmuring to you. :)

why didn't she just use the shovel to move the cactus?.. any person will try not to move cactus with their bare hand anyway because it will hurt your hands

Airen • 2 years ago

That's why sometimes it just feels stupid and impossible. Hope they can improve things like this.

LesK • 1 year ago

check out my response to Schwatzr there's a legitimate reason to not use the shovel.

LesK • 1 year ago

that would have left marks on the cacti that it had been moved etc. thereby drawing suspicion to the corpse's chest and pockets etc. also, the blood from the shovel would have transferred to the cactus.

Schwatzr • 1 year ago

yeah you have a point there

well that's the season 21 finale! stay tuned for my normal seasonal roundup in episode 681!

i'm definitely going to edit this one for length to make SURE the Gogo knuckleheads don't mark it as spam!

also, there were I BELIEVE two Kaito Kid specials aired after episode 680. Sonoko and Ran mentions this after 'Next Kid's Magic' (that bit replaces 'Next Conan's Hint' in the episode before a Kid special will happen) in the 'Conan Pun Skit' at the end of this episode timecode 24:45. so maybe those two eps of KK are the Christmas Special for this year?
